1. Air Force Memorial

Located on a beautiful hillside vista in Arlington, Virginia, the Air Force Memorial honors the service and heritage of the men and women of the United States Air Force and its heritage organizations.

2. Netherlands Carillon

Overlooking Washington, D.C., the Netherlands Carillon was a gift from the Dutch people in gratitude for U.S. aid given during World War II. The carillon's peaceful setting, with its floral libraries and sculpted lions, is the perfect place to listen to the music of the bells. Hear guest artists perform concerts on summer Saturdays.

3. Marine Corps War Memorial (Iwo Jima)

One of Arlington's most photographed memorials, the Marine Corps War Memorial is one of the largest cast bronze sculptures in the world with its 32-foot-high figures sitting atop gilded granite base. The magnificent memorial was based on an iconic, Pulitzer Prize winning photo of the second flag-raising on the island of Iwo Jima during World War II.

4. Navy-Merchant Marine Memorial

Dedicated in 1934, the Navy and Merchant Marine Memorial was built in honor of those who died in service during World War I, as well as those who have "given life or still offer it in the performance of heroic deeds." The sculpture depicts seven gulls over the crest of a wave.

5. Art Walls in Crystal City

Strike a pose in front of one of the many colorful urban murals that can be found throughout the Crystal City neighborhood. There are dozens of murals in the area where local artists added a pop of color.

6. Crystal City Metro Stop

Lisa Marie Thalhammer's "Harmonize" rainbow mural is the perfect background to grab a selfie before catching the metro. In an initiative by the National Landing Business Improvement District, this eye-catching mural was designed to create vibrant street art that greets commuters and visitors at the top of the escalators.

7. Langston Boulevard Mural

This vibrant mural by D.C artist, Kaliq Crosby, which can be seen from the newly renamed Langston Boulevard, pays tribute to the man who was Virginia’s first Black congressional representative, served as the first dean of Howard University’s law school and the first president of Virginia State University.

9. Gravelly Point Park

Gravelly Point is a National Park Service sight in Arlington, Virginia. It's located along the George Washington Memorial Parkway, just north of Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport and across the Potomac River from Washington, D.C. Its unique location just a few hundred feet from the north end of Reagan's runway 1/19 makes it one of the best spots in the United States for airplane-spotting.

10. Theodore Roosevelt Island

Theodore Roosevelt Island is a tribute to outdoors man and naturalist Theodore Roosevelt, the USA's 26th president. This 91-acre wooded island sanctuary features a memorial plaza (a perfect spot for a photo op with Teddy), as well as a few trails for exploring wooded uplands, swampy bottomlands, and Potomac River views.

11. Mount Vernon Trail

The Mount Vernon Trail winds alongside the Potomac River offering uninterrupted views of Washington, D.C.'s skyline. A run, walk, or cycle along the trail leads to all of the same sites that can be reached by car on the parallel section of the parkway.
