Army Ten-Miler
Every October, Arlington hosts the Army Ten-Miler, starting and finishing at the Pentagon, with a course that runs through Washington, DC, past the city's most iconic monuments.

Getting There
Flying In
Reagan National Airport (DCA) is the closest option, about 10 minutes from the Pentagon and directly on the Metro Blue/Yellow line, so you can go straight from baggage claim to your hotel without a rental car. Dulles (IAD) and BWI are both roughly 45 minutes to an hour out and would require a car, shuttle, or train connection into the city.
By Metro
The Pentagon Metro station (Blue, Yellow, Orange lines) opens at 6:00 a.m. on race day and puts you close to the start/finish area.
By Shuttle
A free event shuttle runs from 4am-1pm, connecting the Pentagon North and South parking lots. If you're driving in, enter the South Lot via Fern Street.
Parking
Runners and spectators can park at the Fashion Centre at Pentagon City (850 Army Navy Drive and 955 15th Street South) or the Crystal City parking garage (1750 Crystal Drive). If you’re using a rideshare service, place your drop-off point at the intersection of 12th and South Hayes Streets.
Expect road closures around the Pentagon and across the Potomac into DC on race morning. Plan to arrive early.
Staying in Arlington keeps you close to the starting line. Many hotels are within walking distance or a short Metro ride from the Pentagon. Whether you want to be close to Crystal City's restaurant scene or get a restful night's sleep in a quieter spot near Pentagon City, you'll find a range of price points and neighborhoods to choose from.
Before The Race
Arlington has plenty of Italian, pizza, and pasta spots for a pre-race dinner, plus the official Pasta Dinner for the full race-weekend experience.
After The Race
Recover with brunch spots, breweries, and restaurants across Crystal City, Pentagon City, and Clarendon.
Runners can build mileage on the scenic, 18-mile Mount Vernon Trail or the mostly flat, paved Four Mile Run Trail. For hill work, the moderately strenuous Custis Trail offers a challenging 4.5-mile route, while the W&OD Trail provides plenty of distance for longer training runs.
Where To Spectate
Spectators have plenty of good vantage points to cheer on the runners. The Pentagon lots near the start/finish are easy to reach by Metro, and several spots along the route into DC offer great views as runners pass monuments and landmarks.
After the race, meet up with your runner and enjoy the free entertainment at the Hooah Tent Zone and Youth Zone.
Frequently Asked Questions
What is the course terrain like?
The course crosses the Potomac from Arlington and goes into Washington, DC, passing monuments and landmarks before returning to the Pentagon. It is a mostly flat route.
Is there an age or pace requirement?
Yes. Participants must be at least 13 years old and able to maintain a 15-minute mile pace on race day.
Where can I pick up my bib?
Bib pick-up will be at the Army-Ten Miler Expo, held on the Friday and Saturday before the race (October 9-10) at The St. James, Flagship in Springfield, VA (805 Industrial Road).
Can I bring my dog or a stroller on the course?
No. Dogs and strollers are both prohibited. Spectators may bring strollers, but they must pass security checks at the Pentagon.
Is there a virtual race option?
Yes. Virtual racers can run any time between October 11 and December 31, 2026, and receive a finisher’s shirt, coin, and race bib.
