National Cherry Blossom Festival

Experience America's Springtime Tradition from Afar

Please note, due to safety concerns and the COVID-19 pandemic, some activities may be canceled or altered. Please check the event's website for the most up to date information.

This year's National Cherry Blossom Festival blooms from March 20 through April 11, 2021. With an innovative format that honors festival traditions while prioritizing the health and safety of participants in the midst of the pandemic, the event will incorporate virtual and personal experiences for all to enjoy. The announcement of local company Amazon as a lead 2021 festival sponsor is another exciting development for our Arlington community.

The greatest springtime celebration in the United States takes place as a sea of pink blossoms emerges around the Tidal Basin and the Thomas Jefferson Memorial, a truly unforgettable sight. The annual event honors the close bond between the United States and Japan, which gifted the cherry blossom trees in 1912. Virtual programs including the traditional Opening Ceremony, Pink Tie Party, and Celebration Show can be enjoyed from afar, and you can even get birds-eye views from the Blossom Cam!

If your travels bring you to the region, you can stay in Arlington just minutes from Cherry Blossom Festival activities while enjoying hotel rates that average 20 percent less than those in downtown Washington, D.C. Be sure to visit Arlington's Health & Safety page so you know what to expect while here.
