The county received a 100% rating in 2021 for LGBTQ rights by the Human Rights Campaign Municipality Equality Index, was named the #1 Best Town in Virginia for LGBT Families by Movoto in 2016, and recommended as an LGBTQ travel destination by Passport Magazine.

For evening fun, check out Freddie's Beach Bar and Restaurant, Northern Virginia's only LGBTQ, "straight friendly" restaurant and bar. Featuring drag shows and karaoke, Freddie's is among the region's established hangouts where LGBTQ couples can just be themselves. It even has a delicious weekend brunch menu, too!
