Roaches Run Waterfowl Sanctuary
Overview
Besides being a shady place to watch planes at Reagan National Airport, Roaches Run Waterfowl Sanctuary is known as a local fishing spot and birdwatching location.
Glimpse osprey, green heron, red-winged blackbird and mallard during summer months at this popular spot. Summer vegetation along the lakeshore comes alive with dragonflies and damselflies. Observe wintering waterfowl in cooler months. Catch a view of the Washington Monument across the water.
To get there from the Rosslyn area of Arlington, travel south on the George Washington Memorial Parkway for approximately 0.5 miles to the exit for Roaches Run. The parking lot is on the right side.
