Synetic Theater
Overview
Premier American physical theater, fusing dynamic art forms such as text, drama, movement, acrobatics, dance and music. Expressing classical texts and modern stories without words, Synetic gives audiences unforgettable visceral experiences through its stunning physicality. Founded by artistic chief and director Paata Tsikurishvili in 2001, Synetic Theater is located in the heart of Arlington’s Crystal City neighborhood.
Synetic’s productions have earned 116 Helen Hayes nominations, winning 27 Helen Hayes Awards, garnering praise for both its Wordless Shakespeare repertoire (Hamlet…the rest is silence, Macbeth, Romeo and Juliet, A Midsummer Night’s Dream, Antony and Cleopatra, Othello, King Lear, The Taming of the Shrew, Twelfth Night) and its dialogue-and movement-based pieces. Synetic redefines theater by blending innovative techniques and movement. But even Tsikurishvili says words cannot describe exactly what Synetic does: “You have to experience it!”
For both private and public events, Synetic Theater offers a variety of spaces to meet your needs. The space hosts up to 350 audience members, has accessible parking and is conveniently located next to the Crystal City Metro (Blue and Yellow lines)
