Why Meeting Planners Chose Arlington for their Events
We asked meeting planners what their reasons were for bringing their groups to Arlington, Virginia. Here were their answers:
Sarah Summerville, Attorney-at-Law, selected Arlington for the Falkner family reunion because…
- There’s a major concentration of convenient activities in many of the Arlington neighborhoods for out-of-town guests to enjoy. I chose Crystal City, but I could have also selected others like Rosslyn or Ballston.
- We had approximately 120 family members (young and old) from all over the country, so safety was a BIG concern, and Arlington is very safe.
- We selected a hotel that connects directly to a Metro, Fashion Centre at Pentagon City, and more, so family members were able to move around and access all of the local conveniences easily.
Pam Edwards, Director of Burke Educational Travel, picked Arlington because…
- Arlington is a great location for access to Washington, D.C. where you can find history, the arts, and educational opportunities everywhere you look. Arlington offers better rates than to stay inside the city of D.C.
- Arlington National Cemetery, the National 9/11 Memorial, and the Pentagon are great reasons to include Arlington in your itinerary.
- Food options abound with everything from pizza to fine dining, which speaks to not only our student groups, but also our adult travelers. There is something for everyone and every budget.
Hope Hicks, Ivey Center, says they switched from D.C. to Arlington because…
- Excellent hospitality: Hampton Inn & Suites Reagan National Airport (front desk staff, Joseph Gorey, sales and marketing) Arlington Convention and Visitors Service (Portia Conerly and associates) and Arlington County Transportation (front desk and ROW bus parking within 2 blocks)
- Walkability a big 10: Accommodations, easy access to the Metro, highway, restaurants galore and shopping
- Location: Surrounded by history (and it's FREE) all within a reasonable amount of time driving, walking, or catching Metro
Stephanie S Gutierrez Torok, Director Global Accounts for HelmsBriscoe, chose Arlington because…
- Location with convenience to D.C.
- Pricing much more competitive than Washington, D.C.
- The number of hotels with great meeting space
Jim Weiskopf, Vice Chair, Honor Flight Savannah opted for Arlington because…
- Proximity to the war memorials, which are in Arlington, Virginia and Washington, D.C.
- Ability to get discounted rates for weekend stays
- Within walking distance to restaurants, precluding having to use a bus for the group
