Instead of rushing through a busy store, you get unhurried time in our light-filled space - making something for the season at our central table, asking questions about the letterpress process, and finding gifts that support slow, intentional living - maybe even one or two for yourself! In October, prepare for the winter season with Open to Being letterpress holiday greeting cards and our “thank you" note card sets. On the shelves, you’ll also discover seasonal handcrafted tea (grown locally) for crisp evenings, Blackwing colored pencils and sharpeners (perfect for all kinds of creative types), and Lavender Lizard Press screen printed bandanas that make lovely reusable wrapping for gifts. Founder Theresa Esterlund opened a letterpress studio + shop in Arlington Ridge neighborhood of Arlington, VA in April 2025. This working studio includes a boutique retail destination open for special shopping events and showcasing Open to Being products as well as a curated collection of handcrafted goods from local makers. A highlight of the studio is our 1910 treadle-operated Chandler & Price platen letterpress.
