Overview
On Wednesday August 6, it is the 80th Anniversary of the Hiroshima bombing. Join us from 12-1pm as we sit in contemplation with the work "Embodied Spectrum" by Kei Ito, third-generation Hiroshima atomic-bomb surviror. In Embodied Spectrum, Kei Ito "visualizes invisible forces" by bringing together language and image in an immersive installation. The installation is centered on slide reproductions of the first photographic image ever taken of the sun, flanked on either side by poetic texts written by the artist. Kei Ito Born 1991, Tokyo, Japan. Based in Baltimore, MD Kei Ito is an interdisciplinary artist whose work utilizes the conceptual framework of photography to visualize the invisible. As a third-generation atomic bomb victim living in the US, Ito employs his generational history as a series of case studies that often applies the language of monuments and memorials. Ito’s work initiates a journey of healing and growth while honoring the memories of those lost to both historical and contemporary tragedies. +++ Kei Ito: Embodied Spectrum is on view at MoCA Arlington through September 7 as part of SOLOS 2025.
