New Security Measures at Arlington National Cemetery: What You Need to Know

It’s one of the nation’s most hallowed grounds and the most visited spot in Arlington, and there are some new changes taking place that could affect your next visit to Arlington National Cemetery.

Due to current conditions, the cemetery is implementing 100% ID checks at all entrances, which means all visitors 16 and older must present a valid state or government issued photo identification when entering the cemetery. This includes all visitors on site for any reason, including funeral attendees, tourists, and personnel on official business.

What this means as a visitor is that you should simply allow a little extra time to go through security when arriving at the Arlington National Cemetery visitors center. Once through security, access to all of ANC’s main visitor sites, including the Tomb of the Unknowns, Eternal Flame and others remains unchanged.
