To catch spectacular views of the National Mall fireworks on July Fourth, celebrate just across the Potomac River in Arlington at:
· the Marine Corps War Memorial (Iwo Jima) in Rosslyn.
· the Air Force Memorial along Columbia Pike.
· Gravelly Point Park near Reagan National Airport.
· Or join in the fun at Long Bridge Park, where you can find a food truck rally, drop-in lawn kickball games and contests, free face painting, moon bounces and balloon art.
The celebration starts at 5 p.m. July 4 at Long Bridge Park in Arlington’s Crystal City neighborhood, a public green space with outdoor recreation facilities including athletic fields, a network of walkways and an overlook at the north end of the park with views of capital monuments. The live music stage at Long Bridge Park will be rocking with Jeff From Accounting, a rock and pop cover band, and singer and guitarist Steve Lauri. The park is located at 475 Long Bridge Drive, and free event shuttles will run from 4:30 p.m. to 10:30 p.m. between the park and the Pentagon City and Crystal City Metro stations.
Earlier on the Fourth of July you can visit Arlington’s sights and memorials that honor service to our country, before you settle in for experiencing what's arguably the best fireworks display in the nation. And you don't have to battle the National Mall crowds to do it.
