TIES THAT BIND: Learn To Sew On A Button and Connect artist Lorenzo Cardim will teach you how to sew a button while building community connections. The project leads the fall season of activations by the award-winning Arlington Art Truck, September 7 thru October 31, 2019, at multiple locations and times throughout Arlington County.
The Artists will teach you to sew using fun colorful buttons of all shapes and sizes placed onto fabric shaped like Arlington neighborhoods. Lorenzo Cardim designed the project with Arlington Art Truck curator, Cynthia Connolly. Also assisting participants on-site will be artists Charlene Wallace and Angela Latson from the Anacostia Maker Space. Representatives from the Solid Waste Bureau will be with us so you can learn more tips on conserving resources and recycling best practices.
For the final phase, the Artists will be in-residence at Arlington Central Library’s Community Engagement Space (1015 North Quincy Street, Arlington, Virginia) where you can see the artists stitching together the individual ‘neighborhood’ segments into a bedazzling map of the County.
