Hard to believe the holiday season is already upon us, but the seasons have changed, and soon, the hectic nature of this time of year will be upon us.
If you’re looking for a bit of reflection this holiday season, if you’re visiting friends or family in the area, or if you’re just looking for some very creative ways to cross off the items on that holiday shopping list, spend the weekend here in Arlington, where you’ll find ways to experience any and all of the above.
The season is traditionally one for giving thanks and reflecting on time with loved ones, and of course, Arlington’s memorials are very moving places for those who’ve served their country or who have had loved ones who’ve given their lives in that service. Take a moment to give thanks and honor those who have given their lives serving our country at Arlington National Cemetery, United States Marine Corps War Memorial (Iwo Jima), the Air Force Memorial or the National 9/11 Pentagon Memorial. These tributes are moving at any time of year, but many choose this season of giving thanks as a time to pause and reflect on the sacrifices of others.
The holiday season is also a time of joy spent with friends and family, and Arlington offers plenty of opportunities to enjoy the season. Get outside and enjoy the fun at the newly-renovated Pentagon Row Outdoor Ice Skating rink, which reopens this weekend. Open every day through the holiday season, it’s a wonderful way to get into the spirit of celebration. After some ice skating, take some time to relax prior to the stress of the holiday season with some quality “you time” at Elizabeth Arden Red Door Spa – a wonderful spot to indulge, with great restaurants nearby to finish the day.
And if holiday shopping is on your to-do list, there are plenty of options, from shopping centers and boutiques to art shows and festivals. The possibilities are truly endless!
