Columbia Pike

Arlington's International Main Street

Columbia Pike is a bohemian mix of the old and new that truly represents Arlington’s diversity. Classic art deco buildings, small-scale, specialty retail and Arlington’s greatest concentration of ethnic restaurants make the Pike a unique living and working experience. The Pike feeds traffic to several large federal government agencies (most notably the Pentagon) and more than 40,000 commuters travel on it every day. Direct bus routes link Columbia Pike with the Ballston and Pentagon Metro stations. And there are big plans for Columbia Pike. Millions of dollars in capital improvements are preserving the Pike’s urban feel, and the Columbia Pike Form Based Code has enabled a comprehensive plan for growth that will provide incentives for new retail, residential and commercial development, while maintaining the much loved character of “The Pike”.
