Just the Facts

  • AHC Inc. began construction in February 2007 on The Shelton, a 94- unit affordable apartment complex in the Nauck Community. All the apartments, which include efficiencies, 1, 2 and 3BR units, will be available to residents earning 60%, 50% and 40% of the area median income. Arlington County earmarked approximately $3.3 million from the County's Affordable Housing Trust Fund to help fund the project.

  • It will be constructed over a 108-space underground parking garage and will feature 1,500 GSF of retail space, an on-site management office, community space and a landscaped courtyard including a tot lot.

  • The new development replaces the former Fairview Manor at 2300 Shirlington Road.

  • AHC Inc. is a private, nonprofit developer of quality affordable housing in the Washington-Baltimore region. Other Arlington projects include Gates of Ballston, Harvey Hall Apartments and Woodbury North.

  • The architect is Bonstra|Haresign Architects from D.C.

  • The General Contractor, Harkins Builders is a diversified design-build and general contractor active in the construction of commercial, multi-family residential, institutional, and senior living projects with offices in Maryland and Pennsylvania.
