ACVS Launches Capital Summer Vacations Promotion

Cherry Blossom Festival Aimed at generating Arlington hotel bookings from mid-May through mid-September, the 2012 StayArlington Capital Summer Vacations promotion launched with ads in the May/June issues of AAA World magazine and Amtrak's Arrive magazine, reaching over 4 million East Coast readers. The package includes low summer hotel rates with on-property value-adds; a free gift tote with discounts and giveaways from The Fashion Centre at Pentagon City; and a choice of local attraction tickets from Martz Gold Line/Gray Line, the Newseum or Open Top Sightseeing. Capital Summer Vacations are also being promoted through email blasts to nearly 80,000 Amtrak customers and StayArlington e-Club members, and through additional online channels. Arlington Represented at Grassroots Congressional Travel Summit

ACVS Director Emily Cassell represented Arlington and the Southeast Tourism Policy Council at the Grassroots Congressional Travel Summit, co-hosted in D.C. by the Southeast Tourism Society, National Tour Association and the Destination Marketing Association International. Held May 8 and 9, the summit included an overview of Brand USA, as well as presentations from Congressional Travel & Tourism Caucus co-chair Rep. Sam Farr (CA), Rep. Mazie Hirono (HI) and Senate Travel Caucus co-chair Sen. Mark Begich (AK). Additional events that week included a renewal signing ceremony for the Memorandum of Understanding between Southeast Tourism Society and 12 federal agencies, and a preview of the administration's National Travel & Tourism Strategy featuring Interior Secretary Ken Salazar and Commerce Secretary John Bryson.
