Arlington Official Visitors Guide is Here!
The Arlington Official Visitors Guide, the County's primary pre-destination marketing piece for travelers, has been completed and delivered to the Arlington Convention and Visitors Service (ACVS). The Guide offers extensive information about transportation, dining, shopping, and attractions in Arlington and D.C. It's intended to drive visitors to Arlington hotels, stores and restaurants, and to ensure that guests have the best possible time in Arlington so that they return again and again. Although the Official Guides are mainly sent to guests prior to their arrival in Arlington, they are also available at no charge to Arlington businesses that serve visitors. Please contact Monica Cannon, Visitor & Convention Services Manager, at (703) 228-0874 or firstname.lastname@example.org for more information.

Gregory Raines, General Manager of the Holiday Inn Rosslyn and Chair of the Arlington Chamber Hotel Committee, and Roger Aberth, General Manager of the Westin Arlington Gateway, were named to the Arlington Economic Development Commission (EDC) this spring. Comprised of 24 Arlington business and community leaders, the EDC is an advisory group appointed by the County Board to provide counsel to the County Board on matters pertaining to Arlington County's general economic health.
Arlington Tourism Research Slated for June and July
As a periodic update to baseline market research conducted from 2006 through 2008, Arlington will collect a wide array of quantitative and qualitative tourism data in June and July. The resulting information on meeting planner perceptions plus guest demographics, spending habits, activities and preferences, will inform both promotional results and ongoing strategic initiatives. A firm will be selected in the coming days that will conduct visitor intercept interviews and meeting planner telephone interviews, and will provide data analysis and strategic recommendations.
New Mobile Visitors Center Reaches 44 Percent More Guests than Previous Storefront
In its first three months of operation, Arlington's Mobile Visitors Center has reached 44 percent more guests with info on Arlington businesses than were served at the County's Pentagon Row storefront during the same period in 2009. (The Pentagon Row location was closed in February 2010.) To date, over 2,000 people have received assistance at the Mobile Visitors Center, located at six Metro locations five days a week. Conveniently catching hotel guests and residents as they go to and from Metro, the Center's staff promotes Arlington restaurants, stores, arts organizations and attractions. To see the vehicle in action, check out this YouTube video. For hours and locations, visit the StayArlington website.
